Chapter 4
That was horrible. Oh God I'm such an idiot. How could I be so stupid?
Eve, quit thinking bad thoughts about yourself. Marlene told me. I looked up at her with wide eyes.
I cannot believe I just did that. I told her, putting my head in my hands. Alice rolled her eyes, patting my back.
Oh quit being so dramatic. It's called talking, Eve. It's what normal people do when they have something important to tell someone. Alice joked. I gave a blank stare, jumping as the dorm door opened.
Lily! Did he say anything? I asked quickly. Lily agreed with Marlene on Alice about me being dramatic and she too rolled her eyes.
He wants to talk to you. And I mean really talk. Not you blurt something out while we're eating lunch and then run away making weird noises. Lily told me with a smile. I blushed and hid my face.
Oh God. I am so embarrassed. I didn't mean to! He just kept looking at me I trailed off. Marlene, Alice, and Lily all snorted and rolled their eyes.
Well, you totally blew the plan so you might as well go talk to him. Go ahead, go talk about your feelings. Marlene said, pulling me off the ground and pushing me towards the door.
No! I'm a Hufflepuff, remember? We're not good with feelings! I protested. Alice laughed and corrected me.
Actually, Hufflepuffs have no problems with expressing their feelings. That's just you Eve. She told me. I narrowed my eyes at her as I was pushed out of the door.
You heard the girl! Get out there and talk. Lily grinned, pushing me out of the door and slamming the door behind me. I growled at the door and begrudgingly walked to the top of the staircase. I quietly sat down on the top step, not wanting to go down any farther. Hufflepuffs may not have any problems with their feelings, but we do have some problems with bravery. I'm not very brave.
There you are. Come down here, I need to talk to you. I blushed when James came down the boys staircase and hid my face.
No thanks. I mumbled. James smirked up at me and shrugged.
What? You don't want to talk to me? He asked. I smiled a little, not looking directly at him.
I can talk to you from up here. I answered. James rolled his eyes and stepped onto the staircase. I then yelped as the stairs that I was sitting on turned into a slide.
James! I protested, falling onto the floor at the bottom. James laughed and helped me off the floor as I rubbed my bottom.
That hurt. I grumbled, stomping over to the couch. James chuckled behind me, taking a seat next to me on the couch.
Fine, I'm down here. What now? I asked. James raised his eyebrows at me.
Don't get mad at me. You're the one that suddenly burst out in the middle of lunch that you were madly in love with me and then ran away. I frowned at that, still not directly looking at him.
